Love for the Library

Will has always loved to go to the public library. We haven't been there for quite awhile. Today we went to the kick-off of the summer youth programs. Today's program was the puppet show, "Barnyard Capers". Will enjoyed it. It was fun to see how his attention span has grown over the last year. He sat and watched the whole 30-minute show. On the way to the show he was wondering if the "Bad Wolf" would be in the puppet show. Chris suggested that maybe it would be a fox. Will loves the idea of the bad wolf and sneaky fox, but is actually terrified of them, too. I bet you'll be able to tell which picture shows his fear of the sneaky fox who made an appearance in this show. We are so grateful for the library and all the programs they offer.

Will enjoys picking out new movies (DDDs - aka DVDs) at the library. Today we came home with 2 new movies and you guessed it - Thomas the Tank Engine! We also needed some new books to mix things up around here from the same old books. The best part is getting stamps on his hands after he checks out his books and movies. Stay tuned for all the fun we have planned for the summer!

Baptismal Birthday!

Today is Will's Baptismal Birthday. This was a hard concept to explain to a 3 year old. I told him that Mommy, Daddy, Uncle Tim, Suzie and Eric stood up in front at church when he was a baby. Pastor Siri poured water on his head and he was a child of God. I told him how good he was; that he didn't even cry.

So tonight we were talking about baptism again and telling him we needed to light his candle to celebrate his baptism. From the backseat of the car Will says, "Mom, we need a bucket!" After just experiencing the stomach flu at our house my first thought was, "Oh no! Why?" Then Will went on to explain that we needed a bucket of water. Oh of course, because we talked about how part of baptism was pouring water on the baby's head. It was too cute! So instead of the bucket of water we lit his candle, sang "Jesus Loves Me" and blew it out. I think we may have to pull out the video of his baptism one of these days.

TWORIFIC!!!!

We celebrated Will's 2nd birthday this weekend! Thank you to all our family and friends who were able to spend the afternoon with us. Will was in choo-choo heaven with his train cake and lots of new train gear! Again this year he loved the balloons and had a hard time deciding whether it was more exciting to play with balloons or open his presents. After he'd open a gift he'd get distracted until we told him there were more. "More presents!" he would squeal. He also had a ball blowing out his 2 candle. We were surprised he knew just what to do. After he blew it out he singed/said "MORE!" I think we relit the candle 3 times. Most of all it was fun to watch him play with is friends and all the grandparents.

Let the "Terrific Twos" begin....and they have. Tonight Will was destroying his train tracks and Daddy said, "Time out!" and without skipping a beat Will said, "Time in!" I think we'll just say he's starting to learn opposites! Enjoy the pictures from his party.

Mardi Gras!

Celebrating Fat Tuesday! I've been waiting to post these pictures of Will until Mardi Gras. One night when we were over at Grandpa and Grandma Peterson's house, Grandma brought out the beads. Will was entertained for quite a while putting on and taking off all those beads!

Choo, Choo, Choo I LOVE Trains!

Will has developed a LOVE of trains. That seems to be what he plays with the most right now and let me tell you we've watched more Thomas the Train DVDs than you can imagine. It is amazing how he can name all the trains even though some of them look so similar. Here is a video of Will playing trains yesterday. It is fun to watch him start to play by himself a little bit.

Playing with our Creative Side!

Happy Valentine's Day from us! Above you'll see pictures of the art project Will and I did for Valentine's. Will doesn't care much for messes, so I wasn't sure how this was going to go. I was pleasantly surprised how well Will cooperated putting his thumb in the ink. Each time he pressed him thumb onto the stamp pad he'd say, "A mess". It was a fun project!

Last Saturday while Daddy was gone to class in Brookings, we got the playdough out. We've had to take baby steps in working with playdough. At first he would not even touch it or have anything to do with it. A few weeks ago at Family Foundations Will took an interest in the playdough, but only if he could use tools to play with it. We hit the jackpot last weekend when Will not only played with playdough for a half hour, but poked it, squished it, pounded it and actually touched it with his hands! Doesn't he look like such a big boy sitting at the table in a chair?

Playdate

Last Monday we had a playdate with Will's friends and their moms. The three kids are just a couple months shy of their second birthdays (Zoe - March 12, Will - March 13 and Kjersten -March 22). It is so fun to watch them grow up together. It seems like they were just laying side by side on the mat at New Baby and Me class at Sanford -- so helpless. Now they are walking, running, talking and trying to share toys! They had a blast playing on the rug with two Cool Whip bowls of snow and 3 spoons. It was such a fun day! Will and I are blessed to have friends like Anna, Kjersten, Shaina and Zoe.
